Away Game Watch Parties
- When the Hoyas are on TV, your Alumni Club is throwing the party.  BlackFinn American Saloon, located in both Downtown D.C. and Bethesda, hosts our gamewatches for every televised Georgetown men's basketball away game.  Georgetown fans are treated to a semi-private viewing area, specials, and big screens with the sound on, so you can enjoy every aspect of the game in the company of your fellow alumni.  Join us for the best pro-Hoyas atmosphere outside the Verizon Center!

Members-Only Ticket Sales - An exclusive benefit, the Club offers tickets to three or four home games per season to members and their guests.  The Club is often able to secure tickets to the Lower Bowl at the Verizon Center.

Pre-Game Events - The Alumni Club hosts events before the three or four games for which the Club makes tickets available to its members.  The events take place at Gordon Biersch, located at 9th and F Streets NW, and feature breakfast or lunch (as appropriate), beverages, complimentary drink tickets, and a guest speaker.  We also work to combine efforts with the Hoya Hoop Club and Hoyas Unlimited on joint events with marquee speakers, such as Athletics Director Lee Reed.

Alumni Sports

In addition to the sports we love to watch, there are also those we love to play.  Georgetown has several alumni sports teams, which welcome and include alumni of all ages, skill levels, and undergraduate, graduate, and professional schools.  Most of our alumni sports teams participate in the Capital Alumni Network (www.dcalum.org), which is a league of college- and university-affiliated teams associated with their respective alumni chapters in the D.C. area.  Other teams are independent or play in one of the other D.C.-area leagues, such as Metrosports or SportsLeagues.  Georgetown's alumni teams are known for on-field and off-field success, sportsmanship, and fun.  See below for more information on each team, and contact us if you're interested in joining or starting a team.

Softball

The Georgetown Alumni Softball team participates in the Capital Alumni Network.  The league plays games in central D.C. on or near the National Mall and hosts an end-of-season tournament at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center each August.  The Georgetown team has been competing since 1999.  In 2011, the softball team had its best-ever season, going 12-2 in the regular season and undefeated in both their division (7-0) and conference (10-0).  In the tournament, the team won six thrilling games – three were decided by one run -- before being knocked out in the bottom of the last inning in the fifth game of the final day.  Georgetown finished the season 18-4, in fifth place in the tournament (out of 69 teams), and successfully defended its title as “Last Team Standing” at the league’s sponsor bar. The team is coached by Steve Wanczyk (CCT ’04).

Football

The Georgetown Alumni Flag Football team participates in the Capital Alumni Network. The league plays games at Anacostia Park along the Anacostia River in Washington, D.C.  The season starts in September and goes until December.  In 2011, the flag football team was very successful, and posted a record of 7 wins to 3 losses, good for 3rd place in their division. In the playoffs, the team won two games and narrowly lost to the #1 seed. The team is coached by Kurt Muhlbauer (C'07) and Uday Shakour (CCT '10).

Basketball

The Georgetown Alumni Basketball team participates in the Capital Alumni Network.  The league plays games in several gyms throughout Alexandria, Virginia, culminating in a 32-team March Madness tournament.  The Georgetown team has been competing since 2007.  The 2010 team made it to the Elite 8, ending with a loss to eventual champions Indiana.  The year before, the team went undefeated in the regular season earning us the overall #1 seed in the tournament.  The team is coached by Kyle Murphy (MSB ’06).
